Top level tips

What's the best way to paint silver? (armour)

The method I currently use is a matt black undercoat then dry brush over the top with silver, then use an ink to dirty it up a bit. It works but I've seen what others have done and really liked how lovely it looks. (Mat's Grey Knights for instance).

I agree with the above, it works quite well for silver ( Elf armour, trims, etc)
Current armies: British Army ( Bolt Action)

Current Projects: Fallout: Wasteland Warfare, Bolt Action: tank war

A little grey or brown mixed in with the flesh colour..

Armour tip is timely as I'm about to start painting some WotR/HYW Men-at-Arms in 'white Plate'.

What i have done with my GK is this...

Not even bothered with the a primer

airbrushed Model air Negro Black all over model

airbrushed Model Air Fusil Gungrey at a 45 degree angle all around model

airbrushed army painter shining silver (watered down a tad) above the model

then just a watered down nuln oil wash

process works on swords etc...etc... just using a brush instead building towards the highlighted area :)

After the wash i have been lining parts of the edges with shining silver again just for more added depth...
